SYNOPSIS

The boy looked at his reflection in the mirror. She looked back at him and said, 'I am you, but you have to find me.' And so began the protagonists search for a true identity. 'Beyond Reflections' is a poignant journey with Tista Das. Tista was baffled with the questions that came from within. "Why does my body have an unwanted organ, which my girlfriend's bodies don't?", "Why has God made me like this?" No one seemed to have an answer. "Maybe you have inert homosexual tendencies" analyzed the medical experts. She tries everything from stealing and wearing her aunts brassiere to burning her skin to get rid of the unwanted hair. Yet she feels unfulfilled. Things get out of hand; her mother is threatened with rape if her son didn't change his ways.

QUEER NOTES

A poignant journey with Tista Das - a person in conflict with the accepted gender stereotype, a person abused and victimized for her very predicament. The film walks with Tista as she triumphs in freeing her feminine soul, curiously trapped by nature in the body of a man. Tista is an actor by profession and has quite a few films and various television roles and appearances to her credit.
